NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY COMMISSION: OVERVIEW
OBJECTIVE
The National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) of Ghana was
established by an Act of Parliament (NRSC Act 567 of 1999). The Act mandates
the NRSC to play the lead role in championing, promoting and coordinating
Road Safety activities in Ghana.
Main Objective
of the National Road Safety Commission
The main objective is to plan, develop and promote road
safety and to coordinate policies related to road safety.
NRSC's Broad Functions to:
NATIONAL VISION
To make Ghana's road transport system the safest in Africa.
NRSC VISION
To be a reputable organisation with a highly motivated
staff committed to reducing the fatality rate per 10,000 vehicles to a single
digit.
MISSION
To promote best raod safety practives for all categories
of road users.
STRUCTURE
The organisational chart shows the various levels of
leadership functions at the Lead Agency to promote and sustain road safety
programmes in Ghana over the period. The lead agency, the National Road Safety
Commission draws from the Ministry of Transportation, policy direction and
institutional support for Road Safety Programmes and activities.
